strong start in the venerable Wheelock text.
I often hear from my old college Latin
classmates, and they can't believe their eyes. They remember me as
being perpetually lost in elementary Latin, and it's an accurate
memory. I just couldn't understand it, partly because I approached
Latin without a solid foundation in English grammar.
As I wrote the text "Comprehensive
Guide to Wheelock," I kept in my mind a vision of myself back then:
lost, confused, and despairing. In a sense, I wrote to my former
self.
Maybe that's why the book has been so warmly received. It's meant to
be a calming voice in your darkest, Latin moment.
Further, such a book perhaps could only
have been written by a former C- Latin student. Geniuses never
experience confusion the way a former numbskull did.
